![]() ![]() If you enjoyed the first Spectrobes, it looks like the sequel will be offering even more of the good stuff you like. Multiplayer will be available for four officers locally, or two over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Players will earn items in the game that can be used to customize their DGamer avatar. Spectrobes 2 will include Disney's DGamer, the online social networking service. You'll be able to use your existing Spectrobes cards somehow in Beyond the Portals. You placed the card over your DS touch screen, and holes in the plastic would reveal points where you would poke your stylus and unlock the hidden beast. At an unknown point of time in the Nanairo galaxy, Rallen recovers his stolen Prizmod. As of October 8th, 2015, the game is no longer available for download. It was created by the vendor Living Mobile, which had already worked on several other Disney Java game titles, and published on the iTunes Store for iOS devices. There were real-world cards available that worked with Spectrobes to unlock monsters. Spectrobes was a single-player mobile game based on the Java (J2ME) platform. There are over 100 creatures waiting to be captured, twice as many as the first game. There is a hose that is used to cool down the lava first, then you can chip away at the rock - but the magma will slowly seep back into your work area, so act quickly. If you're on a lava planet you'll dig into magma, or underwater on a water world. There are also location-specific excavations. ![]() Here, an onscreen indicator has been added so you'll know if you need to ease up. Previously there was only a sound cue to give you a heads-up, and if you had the sound turned down you could harm your Spectrobe. This mode has also been tweaked so it's easier to tell when you are damaging your fossils. The excavation mode is still here, with new tools to use with your stylus. In the dungeon we were shown, all vortexes had to be cleared from the map before we could progress. You'll see enemies roaming around, but there are also vortexes that can be entered for full battle sequences. It is now possible to fight creatures in real-time without entering a combat "instance," directly on the overworld map. Fans will be visiting both new and familiar locations. A map has been added for easier navigation. Action unfolds on the bottom screen and various informations are displayed on top. Players aren't given direct control of the camera, but tapping the L button will reset it behind your character. Whereas the camera was above the player last time out, giving the player a bird's-eye view of the action, it's been dropped down for a more level, over-the-shoulder view here. Environments are rendered in 3D and sport a nice amount of detail. The game retains the clean, anime style of the first outing. The basic flow of gameplay remains the same: land on a planet, explore, fight some monsters, dig for Spectrobes. ![]() The main characters Rallen and Jeena are returning for another round. ![]()
